Salama e!
My dream to share my love of Madagascar with you and, through eco-tourism, positively impact our global environment one trip at a time.
I am passionate about preserving the nature and wildlife of Madagascar, while helping locals benefit from our tourist economy. I do this by developing customized itineraries that highlight Madagascar’s unparalleled biodiversity and precious natural resources while creating opportunities to interact with our local communities allowing for important cultural exchanges and understanding to benefit our communities. As a way to directly and personally impact these communities, I donate a portion of my income from each trip to the remote villages to help improve their schools and encourage a curriculum that incorporates habitat preservation.
All of this is to help me realize my dream of having a larger, long-lasting positive impact on our environment and community through tourism.
The pandemic was devastating. For two years, the borders of Madagascar were closed, and the tourist industry was shut down. My business suffered, and I had to shut down my website. Only now in late 2023 are things slowly starting to recover. I hope you enjoy my new website as I look forward to a busy 2024 season.
Who is Jean Elisée Christian Rakotondrajoa ?
My name is RAKOTONDRAJOA Jean Elisée Christian, but you can call me Christian.
I was born and raised in Madagascar; home for me is in a remote village in the south where only a few have the opportunity to pursue their studies. I worked very hard as a young student and despite many challenges, I achieved my goal of attending and completing my studies at the University of Madagascar with a degree in LAW. Finding employment in my chosen field of study was very difficult following graduation.
In 2016, my hometown of Antsirabe hosted the Summit of Francophonie, an international conference that draws thousands of French speaking delegates from 88 member countries. Leading up to the conference, I was recruited by the Tourism Office to serve as a local guide for visitors. I completed a two-month training course and was certified as a tour guide. After the event, I continued to work as a local guide in the town of Antsirabe. My success as a local guide led me to become a National Guide.
Since becoming a National Guide in 2017, I have been to every part of Madagascar and still get a thrill in seeing the natural beauty and biodiversity and sharing it with my clients. My dream of improving our global environment through sustainable eco-tourism while promoting a respect for local traditions and cultures came from witnessing the difference in visitors after experiencing Madagascar.
Giving back to the community is deeply important to me. I was able to attend University and want to help others achieve their dreams and improve their lives. A part of my income from each trip is donated to the schools in the remote villages. The money helps villagers to pay for basic needs such as teachers, school supplies, and even physical repairs of the schools. It also fosters a curriculum that incorporates habitat preservation. Making a difference one trip at a time.
Let me be your guide to Madagascar.
